Artist Terms & Conditions: Porqueno 2023 

These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for artists participating in Porqueno exhibition. By submitting artwork for consideration and/or participating in the exhibition, artists agree to these terms and conditions.

What is Porque No? 

A voluntary exhibition sponsored by BlueMelon Design promoting the idea of creation without justification.

Submission Guidelines

 

  • All artists get given the same list of ‘things’ they need to represent (they all have to represent the same things), but it is up to the artist’s interpretation to approach the subject in their own way.
     

  • Each artist is to submit a total of 6 pieces of work. One piece to represent each item on the provided list.   
     

  • Artists must submit high-quality images of their artwork in digital format for promotion of the event.
     

  • Artists must provide a brief description of each piece submitted.
     

  • Artists must provide their contact information, including their name, email address, social link and phone number.
     

  • The artwork submitted must be the original work of the artist.
     

  • The exhibition will be all sponsored by BlueMelon Design. As the event is free to exhibit in part of the conditions of exhibiting is that each artist will agree to donate 1 of the 6 pieces created for the exhibition to BlueMelon. A representative from BlueMelon will be able to choose 1 piece from each artist once the exhibition has bumped in.


Artwork Sizes
 

  • Artwork submitted can be as small as you like but no larger than A1 size.
     

  • Sculptures and non wall mounted work must not be bigger than ½ a cubic metre.


Mounting / Installation
 

  • Artwork needs to have mounting points on the back and should be ready to hang on bump day. You must turn up with your artwork ready to hang on the day, there will be no time during  bump in to create mount points to your work.
     

  • On bump in you will need to bring all fixtures required to mount your work on the wall. The venue allows us to drill into the wall using mounting plugs and screws. Please bring your own set and some spares ready for bump in.
     

  • See pictures on the last page of what these are.
     

  • Sculptures and non wall mounted work must include a display plinth or display solution if not being wall mounted. Due to the size of the venue and risk of it being damaged no artwork shall be displayed directly on the floor.
     

  • You will be responsible for mounting your work during bump in of the exhibition so please be prepared with how you plan to mount your work prior to bump in.
     

  • At bump in BlueMelon may decide to choose one piece from each artist to display collectively with the other artist pieces. For example we may choose one item on the list and ask all artists to display this item collectively together in one part of the venue.


Artwork Delivery and Collection
 

  • Artists are responsible for delivering their artwork to the exhibition venue on the date and time specified by BlueMelon.
     

  • Artwork must be labelled with the artist's name, the title of the piece
     

  • Artists are responsible for collecting their artwork at the end of the exhibition. Any artwork not collected on bump out will be discarded at the artist's cost.
     

  • There is street parking available out the front of the venu but this is very limited so please allow plenty of time on bump in to bring your artwork and install it.


Pricing and Sales
 

  • Artists may choose to sell their artwork at the exhibition however please be mindful that the venue will handle sales and also take a commission of 22% +GST. 
     

  • BlueMelon does not handle or take a commission of sales at the event.
     

  • Artists must complete the floor sheet document (BlueMelon will provide) 1 month out from the bump in date. This will include the name of each piece as well as the sale price you wish to charge. Please remember to allow for the commission within your sell price.
     

  • It is the Artist's responsibility to follow up sales and handling directly with the venue. 


Liability and Insurance
 

  • While the organisers will take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the artwork, they will not be held liable for any damage or loss incurred during the exhibition.
     

  • Artists are responsible for insuring their artwork against loss or damage during the exhibition.
     

  • The BlueMelon reserves the right to remove any artwork that is deemed unsafe or inappropriate.


Promotion and Marketing
 

  • The artist agrees to allow Venue and BlueMelon to use images of their artwork for promotional purposes, including but not limited to social media, print media, and online publications.
     

  • Artists are encouraged to promote the exhibition through their own networks and social media channels.
     

  • The selected artwork will be displayed at the exhibition venue for the duration of the exhibition.
     

  • The artist gives permission for their artwork to be photographed or filmed for the purpose of exhibition promotion.
     

  • In the lead up to the event BlueMelon and the gallery will be doing some promotions on social and website for this we will require descriptions and high quality, clear photos of your work. You must provide these details by the specified due date


Copyright and Intellectual Property
 

  • Artists retain the copyright and all other intellectual property rights to their artwork.
     

  • By submitting artwork for consideration and/or participating in the exhibition, artists grant the BlueMelon the right to reproduce images of their artwork for promotional and marketing purposes.


Withdrawal of Artwork
 

  • The artist may not withdraw their artwork from the exhibition before the end of the exhibition without prior agreement from BlueMelon.
     

  • The artist agrees to pay any expenses associated with the removal of their artwork before the end of the exhibition.


Miscellaneous
 

  • The BlueMelon reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions at any time.
     

  • Any disputes arising from or relating to the exhibition will be resolved in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the exhibition takes place.
     

  • These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede all prior agreements and understandings, whether written or oral.
